What others are saying

"A bonding experience we’ll cherish forever"

Panama to Galapagos

"My daughter and I had an unforgettable experience. As first-time sailors, the crew made us feel comfortable and confident every step of the way. One of our favorite moments was spotting dolphins swimming alongside the boat at sunset—it felt like something out of a movie. The crew’s warmth and expertise turned this into a bonding experience we’ll cherish forever. We’re already planning our next adventure with Pangaea!"

- James & Emily P.

"This trip far exceeded my expectations"

Seattle to Vancouver

"This trip far exceeded my expectations. I had never sailed before, but the crew made it easy and fun to learn. They were always patient and ready to help with any questions, no matter how many times I asked. The meals were some of the best I’ve ever had, even better than a 5-star resort! It felt like a week on a friend’s sailboat. I highly recommend sailing with Pangaea to anyone! Looking forward to sailing again!"

- Bev C.

"The most memorable vacations of my life"

Ensenada, Oahu, Tahiti, Pacific Northwest, Galapagos Islands

"Over the past 19 months, I’ve sailed on Sea Dragon four times, and they’ve been some of the most exciting and memorable vacations of my life. The professional crew helped improve my sailing abilities, and I had incredible experiences like seeing a full 180-degree Moon Bow and diving on virgin reefs. Thank you for providing a safe way for a retired engineer to enjoy seeing the world from the helm of a sailing vessel."

What can I expect from a Pangaea Exploration voyage?

Our voyages are hands-on sailing adventures, not luxury cruises. You’ll be part of the crew, learning to sail and contributing to the boat's operation. It’s a life-changing experience where you’ll explore remote destinations and take on new challenges.

Do I need any sailing experience to join a Pangaea voyage?

No prior sailing experience is necessary! Our professional crew will guide you through everything, ensuring you feel comfortable and confident, whether you're a seasoned sailor or your first time on the water. Our goal is a safe and fun learning environment!

How many people are on the boat?

The boat accommodates up to 13 people: 3 professional crew members and up to 10 guest crew members.

What’s included in the cost of the voyage?

The cost includes your accommodation on the boat, all meals, snacks, and non-alcoholic beverages, as well as sailing instruction and gear. Additional costs like travel to and from the boat, personal insurance, and optional shore excursions are not included.

How do I know which itinerary is right for me?

Each itinerary offers a unique experience, from tropical island hopping to high-seas exploration. Our team can help guide you based on your interests, experience level, and travel goals. Feel free to reach out for personalized recommendations!

What is the age range for participants?

Our voyages are suitable for participants of all ages, with travelers ranging from their 20s to retirees in their 70s. As long as you’re adventurous and ready for an exciting journey, you’ll fit right in!

What kind of food is provided on the boat?

Our crew prepares fresh, high-quality vegetarian meals each day, accommodating most dietary restrictions and preferences. We fish along the way when appropriate and it is an optional addition to meals when caught. If you have specific dietary needs, just let us know in advance, and we’ll make sure to accommodate them. Everyone on board helps in the galley throughout the trip.

What is the cabin setup like?

Cabins are shared and designed for comfort. We offer single-occupancy berths. Watch the video above to see!

Is there internet access on board?

Internet access is limited or unavailable depending on the location of the voyage. We encourage participants to embrace the digital detox and enjoy the experience without distractions.

What watch schedule do you run on board?

We typically operate our passages on a 4 on 8 off schedule with dog watches (two short 2 hour watches) either side dinner or 3 on 6 off. The watch schedule runs 24 hrs a day.

Do I need to bring any specific documentation for the trip?

Yes. You’ll need to make sure your passport is valid with no less than six months remaining from the end of the trip. You’ll also need to complete and bring the Crew Profile Form and Medical Form. You’ll receive a Guest Crew Contract upon booking that outlines the terms of your voyage.

What should I pack for the voyage?

After booking, we’ll provide you with a detailed packing list, tailored to the climate of your trip. We recommend packing light in a soft duffel bag, as storage space is limited.

What if I have dietary restrictions?

We accommodate most dietary needs. Please make sure to fill out the Crew Profile Form with any specific requirements so we can plan accordingly.

Can I bring alcohol or smoke on board?

Sea Dragon is a non-smoking vessel (including vaping), and we enforce a zero-tolerance policy for illegal drugs. While underway, the boat is alcohol-free, but moderate alcohol consumption may be allowed at the Captain’s discretion when in port.

What happens if my voyage is delayed due to weather or sea conditions?

Our itineraries have time built into them to account for minor delays due to weather and slower sailing. However, sailing conditions can change, so we recommend allowing for flexibility in your travel plans. Delays are possible, and it’s important to prepare for potential schedule changes. We recommend all guests purchase travel insurance for their trip.

Can I bring my own gear, such as cameras or snorkeling equipment?

Absolutely! You're welcome to bring personal gear like cameras, snorkeling equipment, and even musical instruments. We do recommend keeping it light and compact due to space constraints onboard.

What if I have medical concerns?

Please reach out to us prior to signing up. Our team, with the help of our medical support at MSOS (Medical Support Offshore) can help assess your fitness for the trip if needed. You are responsible for all required vaccinations and health precautions before boarding.
